During the study programme introduction you receive important information about your studies. Participation is highly recommended.

During the study programme introduction you receive important information about your programme and studying at VU Amsterdam. You can also meet your fellow students. Participation is highly recommended, so make sure you are there! The introduction is considered the start of the programme and you will miss out on important information if you do not participate.

Bachelor's programmes

  • VU Introduction Days (2 or 5 days)

    The study programme introduction days for bachelor students is part of the VU Bachelor Introduction Days (19 until 25 August 2026. So, if you’ve signed-up for the VU Bachelor Introduction Days you will automatically join the study programme introduction. For the Bachelor Introduction Days you can choose between a 5 days programme or a 2 days introduction programme with a focus on getting to know VU Amsterdam, your studies and the faculty. More information and the answers to many questions can be found here.

  • Faculty of Science (BETA)

    During the free programme introduction, you will receive important information about your programme and studying at VU Amsterdam. You can also meet your fellow students in advance and get to know the programme coordinator, FSR and study advisor, among others. Do you need help with course registration? In the computer lab below, you can register yourself for the courses of semester 1 and ask questions. More information can be found on vu.nl. For important information you need at the start of your studies, you can consult the “Modules” item on the Canvas page. You will be invited to this at the end of July. Note the date for your course in your diary, but check the website for any changes.

    These study programmes are all part of the School of Social Sciences, and they will have a joint Introduction afternoon on campus. You do not have to register, nor is it mandatory to attend, but we consider this afternoon an important part for the start of your academic life. You will get to know the School of Social Sciences, your study program and your fellow students. Your study program may share important information about the start of your study. Study Association EOS will organize games and drinks to get to know your fellow students. Should you have any questions about course registration etc, you are very welcome to stop by at the walk-in hour of the Education Office, which will be held before the official program starts.     During the obligatory study programme introduction, you will receive important information about your degree programme and studying at VU Amsterdam. You will also get to know your fellow students and can familiarise yourself with the academic advisors, the PPI trajectory, the study associations and the FSR (Faculty Student Counsil). The programme introduction is free of charge. Make a note of the date in your agenda!

    These programs share a joint School of Social Sciences introduction afternoon on campus. You don’t need to register, and attendance is not mandatory, but we strongly encourage you to come. It’s a great opportunity to get to know the School of Social Sciences, your program, and your fellow students. You’ll first be welcomed by the Faculty, followed by a welcome from your specific program. You’ll receive important information about your studies. Study association EOS will host a closing social gathering to help you connect with fellow students and lecturers.     Master’s Study programme introduction

    On the digital education platform Canvas, you will find the full programme of the course introduction and the link for the online course introduction. Don't have a VUnetID yet? If so, make sure you complete your course registration as soon as possible.

    The Faculty organises a programme introduction for all new Master’s students. Alongside presentations by the academic advisors, Career Services and the University Library, the study associations will also introduce themselves, and Amsterdam Law Forum will give a short presentation.

    During this introduction, important information will be shared to help you get off to a good start with your studies. We strongly recommend attending this session, especially if you completed your Bachelor’s degree at another university. If you previously studied at VU, you are of course very welcome as well: some of the information will be familiar, but there will also be new elements.

    In addition to this general programme introduction, there will be separate meet-and-greet moments for the different Master’s programmes and specialisations.
